I have
spina bifida occulta which also has lead to some foot problems. I had a club foot (left) as a child which was straighted to the best of abilities in the late 70's. In my late teens and through my late 20's I had a traveling staph infection in my right foot and had some toes and bones removed. In summary I have beat up, ugly feet.
My pursuit for the last 12 years has been to find a pair of shoes or inserts or SOMETHING that doesn't make my feet hurt. Pretty impressive quest, huh? If your feet hurt, every part of your body can be affected. Plus, I am a busy body and sore feet get in the way of my being busy, dammit.
My mom has good posture for the first time in I don't know how long thanks to
Z-coils. She has
Plantar Fasciitis which is the opposite of my foot problems. She is nearly pain free (still healing). My dad, Chris and I went and got fitted for a pair (takes about 1-2 hours per person for a fitting). After 3 days my hips are straight and my feet haven't hurt. Must recommend them.
Cripes, after being diagnosed with hypothyroidism and getting medicine, quitting smoking, going on South Beach diet with Chris to help his cholesterol, going back to my wheat free diet (slipped the last couple of years) and now finding the shoes you'd think I would feel great, but my body is still in transition.
Now what should my quest be?
I do need to fix my bike. Now that daylight savings time is coming, I should start riding again and saving money.
Haven't been taking photos lately, so let me see if I can dig up something old... Oh here's a couple of photos I took at torrey Pines State Park in San Diego when I went there on business in early February.
